Euan Briggs - Photographer & Artist

Fine art Giclée prints.

Experimental photography exploring the aesthetic of Polarised Light Microscopy (PLM), a contrast enhancing microscopy technique with applications in materials sciences, geology, chemistry, biology and other fields.

Bi-refringent materials viewed with PLM can produce images with vivid colour gradients and striking, often unexpected crystal morphology. Each 18x18 mm slide I create is a unique specimen which can take between minutes or days to develop. This body of work captures fleeting moments of beauty which can emerge and evolve during the process of crystallisation.

Individually numbered and signed ltd edition prints at A3+ size. Giclée process, lightfast ultrachrome inks on Hahnemule photorag, 200+ year archival quality.
